outdoor space Pallet Garden Progress

A few weeks ago I told you all how I was pallet garden dreaming. ¬†And how I made that dream come true with a few pallets me and my sista happen to find. ūüėČ ¬† And now I’m ready to show you all my outdoor space pallet garden progress. ¬†With just a few supplies I picked up at my local dollar store. ¬†My pallet garden dreams are coming to life.

So here’s where we left off. ¬†I with the help of my awesome sista found pallets. ¬†She sanded them for me just a light sanding to take off any splinters facing the front. ¬†Two paint treatments later. ¬†The first was a rust look that just didn’t work for me, the second was a spray paint quick cover ¬†3 different spray paints and wha la. ¬†I’m now loving them. ¬†The silver is my favorite so shiny and bright.

So next it was time to line the shelves so I could do some planting.  I used dollar store weed barrier you can see it below.  It took me about 3 1/2 packages to line all four pallets.

I used my handy dandy electric staple gun. ¬†Which of coarse made it pretty quick except for stopping to refill every couple of minutes. ¬†Each time I or my sista lined a shelf the other was right behind filling it with potting soil. ¬†Lucky for us we both have green thumbs. ¬†I’m sure it’s not a genetic trait as we have two other sisters who cant keep a cactus alive. ¬† We’re just the lucky ones.

I picked up these bulbs for Gladiolas as well as lots of seeds from my local dollar store.  I had planted some last year in my yard and love the beauty they bring.  Plus they remind me of my childhood when on the weekends my mother would buy these flowers for our home.  I read somewhere on the web that if you soak your seeds in water before planting they germinate quicker.  So I did try that.

I decided I would plant the gladiola bulbs along the top shelf of the pallets as these grow to be pretty tall.  I planted all these on 5/11 and now about 1 month later here is what the growth has been.

I go out every morning before work and make sure to water the pallets.  As well as check what is sprouting.palletgardenprogress

I am beyond thrilled with my outdoor space pallet garden progress. ¬†As you can see I did end up planting some plants as well cause I just wanted to see it flowering already. ¬†I also added some dollar store solar lights so at night its pretty look at as well. ¬†I’m sure by this time next month it should all be flowering and I will be sure to update you all again then.

This is a great idea! I thought you were going to do them flat rather than vertical. I love them this way~

Yes I have seen them flat but didn’t want to take up that much room in a small yard I share with neighbors. I thought vertical they would give our yard some privacy too.
