I opened Martha Stewart paint & it was all down hill from there…

Yesterday was 4th of July Independence day here in the US.   We got a day off to celebrate so yay!!

I stayed home as my teenager is grounded {again, and again} anyway what better way to spend a day off than doing a lil crafting, of coarse for some this might mean 1 project for me it started out as 1 but then blossomed I don’t know what happens I hardly ever see it coming when I start a project I say to myself “self your gonna bang this one out and be done yay!!” but then I don’t know what happens one thing leads to another and bang zoom I’ve got more than one thing going on

I’m going to try really hard and to keep this post just about these letters I revamped they turned out awesome if I do say so myself {and I did}
so let me start the story I picked up thes letters on one of my thrifty weekend juants I told you all about it here
IMG_2867
$3.43 for 4 letters looking at them wrapped like this I thought it was MARY at 85cents a letter I figured how can you go wrong?

IMG_3402
all I really wanted was the A & R I figured I would find something else to do with the M & Y later
IMG_3405
Well to my surprise it was not MARY but this….
IMG_3410
after a lil scrabble playing we got….
IMG_3412
IMG_3413
But like I said all I really wanted was this…
IMG_3409
and I got this as a bonus Hip Hip Hooray!  Now I must tell you my teenage monster asked me to do her room in a NY theme when we moved in here and due to both funds running low and a lack of inspiration on my part this has not been done but is now on the front burner… thanks to these…
IMG_3414
So for my letter’s I grabbed the scraping paper book I used to redo my Display case and found some pretty black & white pattern I would love.
IMG_3416
And for the NY a NY subway map of coarse 😉
IMG_3427
I traced the letters onto the paper
IMG_3418
Cut them out just like I was taught in first grade …lol
IMG_3420
pulled out my trusty Mod-Podge matte to glue the letters
Mod-Podge gloss for over the letters
IMG_3421
IMG_3428
Just a few drops will suffice as this is thin scrapbook paper if you use heavy weight paper then use a lil more glue
IMG_3424
Paste your paper on smooth it out…. I laid a heavy book on it for a few minutes to insure it glued down good
IMG_3429
Repeat…for each letter.  I then put two coats of ModPodge gloss over the paper I let it dry between coats
IMG_3434
a lil more scrabble fun…
IMG_3440
Now its time to finish the trim & I know some people would have painted the letters before adding the paper but I work a lil backwards hey its my method I’m use to it…
IMG_3465
And here is where Martha comes into the picture you see J asked me to trim her letters NY in black & I planned on trimming my letters in some leftover Pooh’s favorite things (which is just a different name for tiffany blue) I was going to add some color (for you my cuzin Clau in case you read this ;-o) but alas Martha won me over check out this black…

IMG_3467
it sparkles it glitters these pictures do not do it justice…
IMG_3469

Here’s the finished NY it’s hanging out in the living room till J cleans her room and I can get in there an add some NY things
IMG_3476
and here’s my AR in my display case for me to see every morning
whilst getting dressed in my closet II

I did it I did it got threw this whole post without telling you what else got turned black by Martha come back tomorrow and find out 😎
