How To Easily Transform Boring Chairs Into Fun And Chic
I have had this random collection of chairs patiently waiting around for a turn to be transformed. So there time has finally come. I want to show you all how to easily transform boring chairs into fun and chic set. I was so excited to try out this Dixie Bell Paint Company. And when I learned they had a metallic line well of coarse I wanted to try that.
Transform Boring Chairs Into Fun And Chic
Here’s a few fun facts why I was so thrilled to try out this paint. I got this information off there website.
Why Dixie Belle Paint?
Good question! Believe it or not, this type of paint has been around since man lived in caves, it’s nothing new! However, the great part about our paint is it adheres much better than regular latex OR acrylic paint, especially on furniture, it has a quick dry time and can be used on many different surfaces including: wood, metal, glass, laminate, ceramic, and even fabric!
What is VOC?
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are organic chemicals that have a high vapor pressure at ordinary room temperature. Their high vapor pressure results from a low boiling point, which causes large numbers of molecules to evaporate or sublimate from the liquid or solid form of the compound and enter the surrounding air.
How many coats of paint will I need?
If you’re painting with a darker color, a single coat will usually do. If it’s a lighter color, you will probably need two. Often times, depending on the size of the piece you’re working on, by the time you’re finished with the first coat, the place you started is already dry so you can just keep going!
Do I need to prep the surface before painting?
Your piece should be free of dirt, dust and grime before painting. A regular cleaning using soap and water with a damp rag is typically sufficient. As with anything, if it’s super grimy, a cleaning with Dixie Belle White Lightening will help.
Two of these chairs were thrift store finds and would you believe that the other two the cute little matching set were garage sale leftovers. I rescued them from the trash the morning after the garage sale which happened to be on my block.
I am ashamed to say they have long awaited this transformation. But finally there day has come. Hallelujah!!
I painted three coats of the base coat on these chairs. I did have some bleeding of the cherry wood that two of the chairs were made of. So those got about four coats of the base.
I let them dry thoroughly between coats.
And then did two coats of the top coat on each chair. I was falling in love with these beauties all over again. I knew I saw potential in them.
Making these chair all one fun flashy silver color. Reupholstering the seats to all match each other. If you follow me for awhile you know I’m a fiend for black and white.
I’m pretty happy with how they all come together.

Don’t you agree?
This project was one long overdue and now I’m so thrilled with how it turned out.
Come on over and sit at my table now.
