a mirror goes from drab to farmhouse fun

I’m so excited to once again be a part of the Fab Furniture flippin contest.  This month theme was farmhouse fun so here is how this mirror went from drab to farmhouse fun.  I will preface this with farmhouse fun is my usual style.  But it is fun to stretch myself out side my usual styles.  To me farmhouse is weathered so after two quick coats of paint.  And just a little sanding my piece was ready.

The sponsor this month is the great The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company. The milk paint contains only ingredients that are all-natural and will not harm the environment. It is truly a “green paint” and comes in 20 colors.  You can create some wonderful looks with this paint.  It’s known for its chippiness {I don’t think that’s really a word}.  I myself am not a fan of chippy paint jobs so I add bond to my paint to make sure it stays, where I put it.  Be sure to check out some of the other bloggers in the contest.  They all come up with some amazing creations.  You’ll find some links below.

from drab to farmhouse fun

The way this mirror turned out I think it would have fun in any farmhouse.  What do you think?

I found that little gold applique in some of my thrifting stash.  Came in pretty handy for this revamp don’t you think?  I really think it ads some old world style.  I just nailed it in carefully with two little finishing nails.

I used the color they call Slate as I had showed you all in my instagram sneak peak.  I really do love how this turned out.  Two coats of slate, and a very quick sanding to highlight edges.  I think that give it a cute worn and used over the years look.

The mirror is now hanging in my living room as you see above.  And for now.  😉  I ‘m loving this look of it.
